Summer Hair Trends: Hot Accessories, Styles & Salons

Posted by Eyes of Lady Wimbledon | 24 July 2019 | Beauty, Style & Beauty

Are you ready for a summer heatwave? There’s nothing more frustrating than the combination of humidity and curly hair! But don’t fret over your frizz: we’re here to recommend the top summer hair trends, accessories and hairdressers in Wimbledon that will glam you up for the holidays and keep your locks looking stylish in hot weather…

ESSENTIAL HAIR ACCESSORIES

Keep cool: clip it back

Make your hair a canvas and get creative with hair clips – it’s a fun, fashionable way to keep your hair neatly off your face. For the summer, shells are particularly popular, giving a bohemian beach look.

Matches Fashion has a great variety of hair clips, scrunchies and headbands from luxury brands, including this pretty shell-embellished hair slide from on-trend accessories maker, Timeless Pearly.

And these funky hair slides from SWYC are great for accessorising your hair for parties or special occasions. You can customise them to say anything from your nickname to your favourite word! Makes a great gift, too.

Trending up top: the knotted headband

The headband trend has really taken off this year. While pastel colours compliment lighter blonde and brunette hair tones, bright colours create a great contrast against any hair colour. Floral prints and polka dots are also a great way of making a simple summer outfit look more dressed up and pulled-together.

Head over to Accessorize in Centre Court Shopping Centre where you can pick from a fab selection, or check out Rose Mae Jewellery’s animal-print headbands to bring out your wild side this summer!

All tied up: headscarves

With a similar vibe to headbands, a head scarf is a great way to sweep your hair up, disguise bad hair days and add a pop of colour to your outfit. Go 50s vintage style like Hatty Keane who played at Lady Wimbledon’s Tennis Party, and wrap them around your head, securing with a bow at the top, or tie them around your pony tail for a classic, elegant look. River Island has a good selection: we love this bold print version for summer.

HOT SUMMER HAIRSTYLES & SALONS

Colour me happy: eco-friendly haircare at Stephen Young

Ombre and balayage are still a huge trend for the summer, as they create a natural sun-kissed hair look. If your hair is dark, contrast it with a gorgeous caramel colour. For blondes, almost any bright colour can work: why not try a subtle unicorn pink if you’re feeling adventurous, or opt for a glossy brown tone for a more natural look.

It’s important to use the best quality and most natural ingredients in your hair to prevent any damage – and a lovely new range of sustainable haircare products by Davines – recently launched at the Stephen Young salon in Wimbledon – mean you can help the environment, keep your hair healthy and look fabulous at the same time! Made with the highest quality natural ingredients, they are eco friendly, vegan-friendly and cruelty-free, as well as carbon neutral and biodegradable.

The luxe up-do: heat-proof hairstyles at Thom Kirby

For a special occasion or event, an up-do is your best bet for beating the heat. Thom Kirby salon has a full menu of cut and blow-dry treatments, but its speciality is upscale and bespoke hair styling – perfect for Lady Wimbledon’s glamorous events throughout the year. Try a modern double-take on the French plait – totally fresh and frizz-proof, too.

Show off your hair after a visit to SHOW Dry

For party-ready hair, you can’t beat Lady Wimbledon’s favourite SW19 salon, SHOW Dry: “It’s my guilty habit! I love my weekly wash, cut and blow-dry.” SHOW Dry is also brilliant for styling afro-textured hair. Braids are a popular choice here and are perfect for keeping hair sleek whilst also looking fabulous during the hot season.

Wimbledon’s SHOW Dry salon also offers a Beauty Hub on its website offering skincare and beauty products, as well as DIY tips for hairstyles and make-up that will compliment your up-do.

Stay cool, and remember: if all else fails, you can always wear a sun hat!
