Lady Wimbledon in the news, in the press and on TV
“Since time began, the Wimbledon summer has circulated around the tennis fortnight. From the first of July, our streets have been filled with smiling happy people walking to and from the courts, spilling in and out of shops, pubs, bars and restaurants with banter and cheer. Not this year. 2020 paints a different picture, one that belongs solely to the residents of our town.” Read the full article: ‘Stepping out into a unique summer with #LadyWimbledon’ in Lady W’s Wimbledon Times Spotlight here > or pick up the print version in and around Wimbledon.
“A breath of fresh air swept through Wimbledon last weekend. As the ground began to soak up a much needed drink, I reached for my brolly and told my eldest we are off to buy some freshly made cakes. Of course, my car didn’t start after three months of utter neglect, but that didn’t stop us. Instead of walking to the woods, we headed for Wimbledon town, where Love Wimbledon’s Local Market on The Piazza was reopening. We were immediately greeted by a giant planter usually found in the grounds of Wimbledon Tennis.” Read the full article: ‘Exploring our wonderful...

“I think I was more excited, maybe relieved is a better word, that we have finally reached half term. I’m not sure who squealed louder last Friday when we completed the spring term of home learning. I’m a qualified primary school teacher for goodness sake and we are still all bursting at the seams. The first month was an adventure, the second month I turned to bribery and now I have nothing left to give! Seems to echo relationships from my youth!” Read the full article: ‘Waking up each morning to a brave new world with #LadyWimbledon’ in Lady W’s...
“Oh do you know the Muffin Man? He only came to life two weeks ago when he found a tonne of muffin mix on his doorstep. He phoned his friends and neighbours and together they created 25,000 muffins in 10 days! 'What shall we do with all these muffins?’ asked the Muffin Man, formally known as Simon Ottter. 'Let's give them to our local heroes' came the reply. And so, that’s what they did. And they all lived happily ever after…” Read the full article: ‘#LadyWimbledon tells the story of Wimbledon's own Muffin Man’ in Lady W’s Wimbledon Times Spotlight...

“Week by week and day by day our home learning routines seem to slip and slide. Every family is in a different situation and thus sadly, there is no even playing field nor set of rules in which we can all follow. What I do know is how we are all walking a tightrope between keeping our jobs and keeping our kids sane. Fortunately, home schooling can and does provide some structure to these endless days. Books are a lifeline of quietness and home schooling offer a great opportunity for reading. However busy we are, reading a chapter a day...
“There is a growing revolution happening in Merton and it is spreading fast. Infiltrating our pubs and spreading across to Kingston and Wandsworth, there is a flourishing army of superhumans who have made it their mission to feed the homeless, the vulnerable and now the NHS heroes who are working day and night saving the lives of our friends, family and neighbours.” Read the full article: ‘#LadyWimbledon on how the Dons volunteers took the lead in the local response to coronavirus’ in Lady W’s Wimbledon Times Spotlight here > or pick up the print version in and around Wimbledon.
