We’re always looking for the latest trends which can help us keep fit on the inside and outside.

Yes, that can mean working up a sweat and detoxing on occasion. However we are all ears when it comes to quick and easy health hacks as well. Helpful hints and tips which can help us get through the week, without giving into our cravings and falling off the proverbial clean eating wagon are essential for any fitness enthusiast.

Here are my top 5 health hacks for spring:

1 ) Swap potato chips for sweet potato chips

Careful preparation can make sweet potato fries a healthier option. When you bake the fries instead of frying them, they are lower in fat and sodium. You can also use herbs and spices, such as rosemary, garlic powder or chipotle seasoning, to amp up the flavour of the fries without piling on the salt. Sweet potatoes provide 400% of your daily requirement of vitamin A. They also have more vitamin c, fewer calories more fibre and fewer carbs than potato chips.

For recipes check out Jamie Oliver’s Sweet Potato Fries recipe.

2 ) Green is the new black

Yes the world has gone mad for kale, spinach and broccoli, but if like me you cannot eat spinach out of a bag like some fitness queens, why not invest in a NutriBullet or a similar blender and boost your greens that way. If you boost your juice in the morning you will be full until lunch time – #Winning!

If you are a girl on the go, check out pret a manger as they do amazing kale crisps.

3) Top up your water intake

We all know that water is essential for daily life, it regulates the bodies temperature, and flushes out toxins. For our image conscious readers water is also said to give us our sparkly eyes, reduced wrinkles, clear skin and a healthy glow. We should drink 2 litres of water a day. But how do you keep track?

Well I have found this amazing system which keeps you on target…youth here we come, and it’s just a bottle – check out Hydratem8.

If you find water bland and want to add fruit, try Infruition, it’s our office favourite but there are lots online (just ask google).

4 ) Cauliflower rice

Replace rice with cauliflower rice or cous cous. This is so simple. Pulse the cauliflower florets in a food processor until they have broken down into tiny granules. Then cook with a little coconut oil until it becomes soft and tender. It can be served just like rice as a side dish or for curry or beans.

Take a look at the Minimalist Baker’s Cauliflower Rice guide.

5 ) Spiralizer

As i’m sure you have heard, the spiralizer is the new tool which every serious foodie can’t live without.

A spiralizer is a razor sharp cutting device that creates thin ribbons of vegetables allowing you to create dishes such as Courgette Spaghetti without a dense carb in site…yes! So shop around and get twirling.

Try any of these health hacks and let me know how you get on!
