Celebrity fitness brand Paola’s BodyBarre came to Wimbledon Village last month, and officially put Wimbledon on the fitness map.

I was lucky enough to try one of the sessions with fitness guru and master trainer Paola.

The venue is right at the end of the village high street, and it looks like it was specially made for this Barre class. Paola really has created an intimate boutique studio feel which you sense as soon as you walk in.

Before the class started we were each given a pair of small weights, a Pilates ring and shown to a mat.

The class started with gentle Pilates style moves that I was familiar with. But just as I had started to relax Paola turned up the power – quite literally!

This is a Barre class with a twist. It contains some of the original Joseph Pilates moves sequenced in with upper body exercises in a HITT style, to build and strengthen your muscles. It incorporates classic dancer moves on the floor and then standing poses and moves using the barre to strengthen and improve your posture and to give you that long lean dancers body that we have all dreamed of.

Paola offers a range of different style classes with her team of experts. If you are looking to strengthen your core or tone those stubborn areas, this is a class you should try.
