September Fitness Regime

September Fitness Regime

Posted by Shelly Palmer | 20 September 2017 | Health & Fitness, Magazine

After surviving the summer holidays and the wettest August for a long time, we are ready for the start of the new season. It is easy to neglect your fitness over the summer holidays, especially if you’ve spent all summer running around after your children. But now that they’re back at school, you have some time to yourself again.

So here are my top tips to get you back on track for the new season because, yes, you are worth it.

Reformer Pilates
This is like a pilates mat class on steroids. This class uses equipment for your body to work against for resistance as well as your own body weight, and the springs are adjustable so you can always work at your own pace even in a class environment. The benefits of reformer pilates include strength, toning and reshaping. We all saw Pippa Middleton’s arms at her wedding. So if it’s good enough for P Middy who are we to argue? If you want to shred and lose weight then cardio and HIIT classes have also been seen on lots of boutique gym timetables for those of you who want to take it to the next level.

Places in Wimbledon to check out include: appi, The Pilates Clinic, Create Pilates

Boxing

Yes boxing is no longer just for men. Boxing is great for stress release and also for getting in shape. Learning the different punch combinations and skipping and other techniques will leave you buzzing on an endorphins high. Plus you will have arms and legs to die for, so what is not to love?

HIIT Yoga

This is the brain child of local personal trainer Sacha Green and Kate O ‘Reilly. It fuses together HIIT training methods: high intensity interval training which is a sequence of functional exercises i.e lunges for usually 20-30 seconds with a rest period, for example walking for 60 seconds, completed in a serious of rounds. The number of rounds will depend on the fitness of the group.

Yoga and mindful meditation then follows this intense exercise after you have hit your body hard. A great fitness combination. You then leave calm relaxed and ready to face the day.

September is the perfect time to reset your self and Finnish the year strong. It is not too late to say yes to yourself.
